Avis : Superbe film mené par Otto Preminger sans atteindre le sommet de sa carrière.
La partie la plus intéressante du film, un procès militaire, est passionnant.
Curieusement, Gary Cooper n'y trouve pas de scène comparable au monologue mémorable du Rebelle de King Vidor en 1949. Ralph bellamy vole d'ailleurs une bonne partie des scènes.
Le film offre une belle biographie de William Mitchell.
