Ce western de série B est asssez intéressant. La réalisation de Charles Marquis Warren est éclairée.
Le film débute par l'évasion d'un prisonnier grâce à la complicité d'une femme. Cette femme est potentiellement l'une des 4 filles du saloon interprétées notamment par Coleen Gray et Angie Dickinson. Et l'on saura vers la fin du film si c'est le cas. Le méchant est bien interprété par Paul Richards avec son "Black Whip" (fouet noir).

Une série B courte, au delà de la moyenne. The Black Whip fut l'un des premiers films "Regalscope" : label attribué aux séries B de la 20th Century Fox tournées en format large (et qui n'avaient pas droit au luxe du cinémascope) et généralement en noir et blanc.
